Hyundai will be launching the second generation of its medium panel van, the Hyundai iLoad, next year. The aging Hyundai iLoad has found it difficult to compete in the sector, selling just 173 vans last year.

The South Korean manufacturer will also be introducing the Turkish-built Hyundai H350 in 2016, a van that will be pitched against the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ford Transit. With the Euro-6 emission deadline coming into force in September 2016 (What does Euro-6 mean for van buyers?), Hyundai have taken the opportunity to give the Hyundai iLoad a facelift.

Currently, the Hyundai iLoad is worst in class for payload (see best medium vans for payload) and fuel economy (see best medium vans for fuel economy), although it’s likely that alterations to the 2.5-litre CRDi engine will include efficiency gains.

Hyundai have confirmed that the facelifted Hyundai iLoad will hit the market after the Hyundai H350, but before the Euro-6 deadline in September 2016. The iLoad will continue to be offer in just one wheelbase and one roof height.

A major sticking point for Hyundai UK is the aftersales support. The dealer network isn’t well suited to commercial operators, with limited evening and weekend openings, the lack of replacement vans for servicing and no free pickup and drop-offs. There are only 30 ‘Business Centres’ nationwide.
