Volkswagen has been working closely with Pure audio systems to offer high-quality DAB radios in each of its vans. All 71 dedicated Volkswagen Van Centres are now fully approved by Digital Radio UK to install DAB conversion products.

Unlike a lot of retrofit options on the market, the VW fitted radios have been exclusively designed to fit seamlessly into each of the VWCV vehicles. A total of four radios are offered, with prices ranging from £187.50 to £942.08 plus VAT including fitting.

Autodab is the cheapest in the range, and features improved sound quality over the existing units. Pure’s Drive Digital is just a little bit extra, though, at £213.33 plus VAT, and boasts a wider range of radio stations, pause and rewind, and USB connectivity.

The most expensive choices are manufactured by Kenwood. The standard DAB from Kenwood has a chip that eliminates breaks and distortion in reception and is available from £289.17, while the 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and DVD connectivity costs £942.08.

Buyers should be made aware that the entire Volkswagen Van range will soon be completely revamped, so it may be worth holding off the purchase for a short while. Alternatively, a number of Volkswagen Van Centres will be clearing their ‘old’ stock, therefore there may be a number of good deals around.
