Should you buy a used Ford Fiesta?

The Ford Fiesta won the Parkers Best Used Car award for two years in a row (2020 and 2021) and could well win it again in the future. In this form, the Ford Fiesta is still one of the UK’s most popular used cars, and with very good reason.

It is a super car to look at and a terrific one to drive. Even after all these years, the 2008-on car still stands out as a great all-rounder – and one that these days is entering true bargain car status. It should generally be a cheap car to run too, thanks to affordable insurance, low servicing costs and the sheer familiarity of running a Ford in Britain.

Our favourites are the post-facelift cars, with the 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine. It’s a motor not without its issues, but if you get a good one, it will reward you with super-smooth running, a sprightly nature and the potential for excellent fuel economy. As for trims, pick Zetec as the best all-rounder at an affordable price, with Titanium offering a few extra goodies on top.

There’s a huge amount of used Fiestas to choose from, so don’t feel the need to buy the first car you see. Take your time, make your checks, and you’ll get yourself a great used car that makes it easy to see why it’s been a best-seller all these years.Â
