With its relatively compact dimensions and largely efficient range of engines, Ford Tourneo Connect running costs are fairly low considering the size of the vehicle.

It’s best to avoid the thirstiest 1.6-litre automatic if keeping money in your pocket is a priority as it offers just 35.3mpg.

Championing the efficiency cause is the 1.6-litre TDCi with optional ‘Fuel Economy Pack’. Stop/start function and active grilles to increase aerodynamic performance help boost the average consumption to a claimed 61.4mpg.

Ford Tourneo Connect emissions are also low, providing the 184g/km CO2-emitting automatic is avoided.

The cleanest in the range is the 1.6-litre TDCi with ‘Fuel Economy Pack’, boasting CO2 emissions of just 120g/km.

Those choosing the new car should be able to expect high levels of Ford Tourneo Connect reliability.

Here its van-based origins help due to the robust nature of the components as well as using tried and tested equipment and switchgear from elsewhere in the Ford range.

Although the plastics used are of the harder variety, they feel resilient and not susceptible to being scratched easily. They’re also well-assembled, the test cars we sampled showing no signs of annoying squeaks or rattles.

Ford’s three-year or 100,000 mile warranty might not be industry-leading but it demonstrates that the Tourneo is unlikely to present any significant problem in the pre-MOT years at least.
