Ford Pro is aiming to help small businesses get set up with charging points at employees’ homes in a big to make the switch to electric vans easier.

The company has announced the new scheme as it launches the new Ford E-Transit Custom, the all-electric version of the company’s best-selling medium van.

Ford says it will help with all the major steps necessary to get van drivers established with a charging point at their homes. It is designed to assist those small companies that don’t have a big depot or base where they can install a series of charging points. This will enable drivers to charge their vans at home overnight or between shifts.

Every stage of the process

Ford will be able to help with every step necessary, including consultation, training, installation and ongoing maintenance and management. Ford Pro will even offer a five-year warranty for the charging point.

Once it is installed and up and running, businesses will be able to manage how and when their van charges by using the Ford Pro charging software, allowing them to charge at night on cheaper tariffs, for example.

Businesses with more than one van at various drivers’ houses will also be able to monitor and reimburse for the respective energy use.

The new offering is launching in the UK in summer 2024, before being rolled out to other markets.
