Summary****-

Audi has tried long and hard to make its rival for the BMW 3-Series as desirable, and hasn't quite succeeded in terms of image nor ability. At least until now. While the 3-Series may still have the edge on ultimate driver appeal, the 2008 A4 has far greater depth and is a more rounded product. As beautifully finished as ever, Audi has ensured the A4 saloon is priced a little lower than its equivalent 3-Series rival and is more generous with equipment. While the BMW is still a fine product - and let's not forget, so is the 2007 Mercedes-Benz C-Class - the A4 now seems to be better at more disciplines than its key rivals. Styling is subjective, but surely more people will find the A4 more attractive than the contemporary 3-Series saloon. Build quality was never in question, but now the A4 offers unrivalled interior space, better comfort, improved driving dynamics and excellent refinement.
