Volkswagen has added a Crafter delivery van conversion to its portfolio. Created in partnership with Bri-Stor Systems, the new model – which has been specially adapted for use by couriers and parcel delivery firms – is available to order from any VW Commercial Vehicles dealer now.

The new VW Crafter delivery van conversion arrives in response to the massive growth in online shopping, which has expanded even more rapidly than predicted due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The design is said to make the Crafter panel van ‘even more versatile and adaptable’, maximising the useable space available inside the 9.3 cubic metre load area of this Parkers Award-winning van.

What’s been done to turn the Crafter into a delivery van?

Working with racking specialist Bri-Stor Systems, Volkswagen has added foldaway shelving to both sides of the load area, and put in six telescopic load poles.

This combination is hoped to give enough flexibility, security and protection for all kinds of parcel delivery requirements, large and small.

In addition to this, there’s also a new roller-shutter door between the cab and the load area, boosting security and meaning that drivers won’t have to stand in the rain with the rear or side doors open when trying to find the next parcel.

And if security is a major concern, you can also opt for an auto-locking feature, which will automatically lock all the doors after a set period. Probably best if you remember to take the keys with you, though (we say that having recently been locked out of an e-Transporter, while the power was on and it was plugged into a charging point…).

How do I order a Crafter delivery van and how much does it cost?

The new conversion is available to order from any Volkswagen Van Centre now – and of course all of these are fully up-to-date with the latest government COVID-secure advice.

Pricing for the full conversion package is £5,600 on top of the cost of the Crafter – though lesser packages including just the internal lighting, grab handles, lighting and shelves are available in conjunction with Bri-Stor from £3,280.
