CLS four-door coupe receives the AMG treatment, initially with a supercharged 5.4-litre V8, but from July 2006 with a new, more powerful normally aspirated 6.2-litre. The high performance version of the CLS is even more exclusive (and more expensive) than the rest of the range. Besides its hand-built engine, the AMG version of the CLS comes with specially tuned brakes, stability control, suspension, plus AMG sports seats and styling details that help distinguish this model. The CLS AMG is rapid, refined and desirable, but perhaps not as focused for the true driving enthusiast as a BMW M5.
