The Mercedes-Benz CL-Class is a luxury grand-tourer with a coupes roofline and two doors.

Thought of as a swoopy version of the S-Class, the CL was offered on the same platform, albeit with a shorter wheelbase.

A smaller selection of the S-Class’s engines was also used, with the larger V8 and V12 units taking precedence.

The first generation hit the streets in 1999 and was an all automatic line-up with steering wheel controls whether you chose the 5.0- or 5.5-litre V8, or monstrously powerful twin turbocharged V12 engine.
