A number of van manufacturers are offering now scrappage schemes for the sales period from 1 September 2017 until 31 December 2017* – and you’ll find links to details of all of them on this single Parkers Vans page.

General rules of the latest van scrappage schemes
While there are some variations between the scrappage scheme deals, there are crucial similarities in most cases, too.
The principle one is that in almost every instance, the vehicle you’re trading in to get the discount must be pre-Euro 5 emissions – meaning anything Euro 4 or earlier is perfect fodder.
The registration date cut-off for Euro 4 was 31 December 2009, so generally anything pre-2010 should also be fine (though you may find some Euro 5 vehicles were available early).
The current emissions regime for new vehicles is Euro 6.
Citroen and Peugeot, however, are doing things slightly differently. Rather than rely on emissions data, the partner French firms have simply set the cut-off date for the first registration of the trade-in vehicle at 31 December 2010. Which is a year later than any other scheme we’ve seen.
Both cars and vans, petrol or diesel, can be traded in to get the scrappage discount – and these trade-in vehicles will be scrapped.
Mercedes is also doing things slightly differently, offering both swappage and scrappage schemes, depending on the emissions level of the vehicle you’re trading in.
Are the van scrappage schemes good value for money?
This is the million dollar question.
In some cases, possibly – especially where the £2,000 scrappage saving can be combined with other offers; for example both Ford and Renault have maximum savings of up to £7,000 available on their Transit and Master large vans.
However, don’t rush in.
Firstly check that you can’t get a similar or better deal without resorting to scrappage. We can help you here:
Secondly, if you do think scrappage is the best deal for you, it’s still worth making sure you’re not getting poor value for the trade-in vehicle. If it’s worth less than £2,000 you’re quids in, but if it’s worth more than £2,000 a non-scrappage deal could be a better bet.

Ford van scrappage scheme
Ford was the first light commercial vehicle (LCV) maker to start offering a scrappage scheme discount on vans. These are the main details:
- Scrappage discount: £2,000
- Can this be combined with other offers: yes
- Which Ford vans are included: Transit Courier, Transit Connect, Transit Custom and Transit
- Which are excluded: Ranger pickup, base model Transit Connect
- How long the trade-in vehicle must have been registered to you: 90 days

Renault van scrappage scheme
Renault’s scheme is very similar to Fords – right down to the total discount amounts currently available. These are the main details:
- Scrappage discount: £2,000
- Can this be combined with other offers: yes
- Which Renault vans are included: Kangoo, Trafic and Master
- Which are excluded: Kangoo ZE electric van
- How long the trade-in vehicle must have been registered to you: 90 days

Toyota van – and pickup – scrappage scheme
Toyota was the first manufacturer to offer a discount on a pickup – however, its rules are stricter than Ford and Renault’s. These are the main LCV details:
- Scrappage discount: £2,000 (it’s less on some Toyota cars)
- Can this be combined with other offers: no
- Which Toyota LCVs are included: Proace van and Hilux pickup
- Which are excluded: n/a on LCVs
- How long the trade-in vehicle must have been registered to you: six months

VW vans scrappage scheme
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles offers a reduced rate of scrappage on its smallest van – the Caddy – and also excludes a few models. These are the main details:
- Scrappage discount: £1,000-£2,000, depending on model
- Can this be combined with other offers: yes
- Which VW vans are included: Caddy, Caddy Life, Transporter, Caravelle and Crafter
- Which are excluded: California, Transporter Sporline and Amarok
- How long the trade-in vehicle must have been registered to you: six months

Fiat van – and pickup – ‘scrappage bonus’ scheme
Fiat Professional is the latest van maker to join the scrappage parade. But its ‘scrappage bonus’ scheme is a but different: it only runs until 30 September 2017, and the scrappage disount is only £500,
However, the total savings available at Fiat at the moment are enormous, ranging from £5,500 off the Fullback pickup to a massive £13,500 off the Ducato large van.

Peugeot-Citroen van scrappage scheme
As with Toyota, Citroen and Peugoet are offering scrappage as an alternative to other offers, rather than in combination. However, the money off is quite substantial, with a minimum discount of £3,000. The details:
- Scrappage discount: £3,000-£7,000 (ex. VAT), depending on model
- Can this be combined with other offers: no
- Which Citroen vans are included: Nemo, Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay
- Which Peugeot vans are included: Bipper, Partner, Expert and Boxer
- Which are excluded: electric version of the Berlingo and Partner
- How long the trade-in vehicle must have been registered to you: 90 days

Mercedes van scrappage and swappage schemes
Mercedes isvery late to the party – only launching its schemes in November 2017 – but it’s offering swappage as well as scrappage, in an effort to avoid unnecessarily scrapping vans that can still serve a useful purpose.
Swappage applies to Euro 4 and Euro 5 trade-in vehicles; Euro 1 to Euro 3 trade-ins will still be scrapped.
In another twist, the swappage element is also open to small fleets of up to 24 vehicles, as well as individual retail customers. You can save £1,000 on applicable approved used vans as well.

- Can this be combined with other offers: yes
- Which Mercedes vans are included: Citan, Vito and Sprinter
- Which are excluded: X-Class pickup
