In their own words

My current Giulia is the first car in 30 years that has not been FWD, the last RWD car I had was an Opel Manta GTE. Both cars were and are still excellent drivers cars but the GIulia is in another league. The front end is incredibly pointy and the feedback from the chassis, like all the Alfa's I've owned before, provides a Zen like experience. Alfa's have a poise on the road that can be felt when a passenger even wiggles their bum on a seat and as a driver you get that balance message when it happens. The recent snow falls have reminded me of the disadvantages of RWD compared to FWD but in the wet or dry the car just goes where you think you want to go! Not sure if the new cars have the same geometry, but look up Ackermann steering and you will understand why they are so special, it's a setup normally reserved for much more expensive vehicles and the real life experience is nothing short of amazing. Alfa converted me to diesel about 17 years ago with a 147JTD and they are extremely reliable cars, most Vauxhalls use the same engines! Get one whenever you can!
