Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

Having owned the exact same model many years ago I knew what I was purchasing. Mine set me back £350 and was bought as a project, I also own a 2015 Golf. Honestly can't think of a better £350 I've spent in recent years, forgot how great the engine sounds even on the original exhaust. Acceleration is more than ample for my needs, enough poke for B road over takes. Friends used to take these up to 130mph, not bad for 1996! Handling is OK, slightly light and vague steering, gear change is also quite laborious and vague on this model. Clutch is on the right side of heavy for me, easy to find biting point but doesn't require gym membership to operate. The ride is firm but not uncomfortable. Cabin space is excellent in the front, I'm well over 6 feet tall and fit comfortably. The back seats should be reserved for children or small adults, it is fairly cramped. Boot is a decent size. No aircon on mine, however I do have such 'luxuries' as a working sun roof and electric windows (only on the front)! Running costs are average, parts are still easily available and often quite cheap. Not so great on fuel, very rarely see more than 25 mpg mostly town and B road blasting. Lastly, if you are going to purchase this age of Audi I strongly urge you to join one of the excellent owners forums. They offer a fantastic wealth of knowledge regarding common issues etc.

How reliable do you find the car?

Starter motor went on day of purchase, replaced by the garage she was purchased from. Front suspension is a weakness on this age A4 as is the dreaded heater matrix issue. Cambelt should be changed every 60000 miles or five years to be on the safe side. Loads of forums on the internet full of information for this vehicle.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Roomy, decent boot, my model doesn't have split folding rear seats though. MPG is not great, mid 20's around town and up to early 30's on a motorway journey at 70mph.
