In their own words

Huge boot, amazing long distance cruiser but also MUCH more economical than you'd expect as long as you're very careful and not in a hurry. Took 3 adults and a week's worth of luggage to the South of France and back at between 80 and 130 mph with the climate control on all the way, still managed 41 mpg. If you're happy to forgo aircon and sit behind a lorry in the slow lane it's capable of returning over 60mpg. Personal best is 68.8mpg over 100 miles at a steady 50mph. Find one with the 75 litre fuel tank and drive carefully and look forward to a very realistic 800+ miles to a tank. V6 TDI and Quattro make it very assured in snow and ice with plenty of torque. It's not really a boy racer traffic light sprinter but even so, will happily embarrass spotty chavs in their hot hatches if they try it on. It's only let down has been the interior, which is very disappointing given it's something Audi are supposedly very good at. The quality of the materials is fine, even the plastics on the lower trims are decent, but in motion, depending on the speed, temperature and road surface, there are a variety of squeaks and rattles from the dash, parcel shelf and door panels. If you're sensitive to that sort of thing I'd listen very hard on a test drive and try out a variety of road surfaces to see if there are any unwelcome noises from the trim. I've had issues with the centre vents in the dash, nearside front door speaker cover, top of dash centre speaker, a so far untraceable rattle above 30 mph from the lower part of the driver's side B pillar, and recently an intermittent metallic squeak from the rear parcel shelf. All in all not what I expected given Audi's reputation for interior fit and finish. It's possible that the 19inch wheels and extra low S Line suspension have not helped, softer sprung versions on smaller wheels may fare better. A well looked after one on low mileage and decent history is probably a very good value purchase all in all. Bar a faulty level sensor in the expansion tank I've had no issues except regular servicing costs. Breaks and tyres will last well or not at all depending on your driving style. I changed my first set of tyres after 5 years and at 8 years and 55 thousand miles I'm still on the original pads and discs, although I do drive it gently most of the time. Treat the leather well and keep it moisturised and it will still look brand new after 8 years. Mine does anyway. Very nice car overall.
