Audi Q2 review (2024)

In their own words

We brought the Q2 after owning an A3 for 3 years, but we wanted a taller car as my wife suffers from Arthritis so making it easier for her to get in and out of. Audi made it very simple to swap. We have been delighted with the car overall. MPG seems to average out at around 38mpg, but can go late 40's on a long run, but mostly used for fairly short trips. As you would expect on a 2 year old car it has been 100% reliable, the interior is excellent, the tiptronix gear box makes driving so simple, but with the option of manual when wanted - which even then is fairly automatic (even in manual it will change down when coming to a stop). Drive modes are not true maps, eco changes gear as quickly as possible, sport just holds onto the gear for longer. The modes are not perfect and the engine doesn't feel that powerful. In eco it tries to deliver as little power as necessary, so when wanting to pulling away from a corner, for example, you add some throttle, want more acceleration, add more, and more, and suddenly the power is delivered in a lump, wheels spin (which the TCS should not allow but does) and revs rise very quickly - that can catch you out. but that aside its mostly wafting along easily at road speeds. I always buy the sport teknic rather than S-Line as the latter is harsh and uncomfortable on the road - especially with our pot-holed roads. The 1.5L engine is OK, not exciting, but cheap to tax and insure and will cruise very comfortably at motorway speeds. Interior is great quality, plenty of room and space, boot and space in the back is good, but watch the options, some are great, but others not worth the money (however cool they seem). Only irritation is that the infotainment will not - like the A3 - disappear into the dash. it's always there, and always quite distracting. Also doesn't always seamlessly connect to car play. Also while i am being the negative, the dual zone system ... er... doesn't. It warms and cools the car, but it doesn't create 2 zones of different temperatures if you think that what it will do. But overall I am very please with the car, and impressed with it, well built and put together, simple and a pleasure to use daily, No issues so far, - recommended.
