In their own words

If you don’t need the back seat space of a VW Golf, Audi A3, Seat Leon or Skoda Octavia then buy the same car with more compact body. Luggage space is surprisingly good, obviously way better than the similar looking (but entirely different) supercar Audi R8 at 5 times the price. I have carried Christmas tree and lawnmower at different times in 2 seater van mode. With the rear seats in place, my Border Collie happily travels in the boot, where no dog guard is needed because of the low headroom

The Audi TT (and A3) also allow you to have all wheel drive without extending to the very top of the range, as you would with VW’s other model the Golf R, or the competition’s Ford Focus R/S, which are significantly more expensive than my middle of the range Audi TT. Ride quality is harsh, in exchange for excellent cornering, helped by the car not being unnecessarily big and tall as most modern cars are. An excellent drive for as long as you stay on smooth surfaces. Four wheel drive enabled the steep hill where I live not to be a problem in the snow and ice of winter.

I bought at 2 years old, more than 1/3 cheaper than the price new. The only problem I have is jealousy from people wishing they hadn’t spent more money for a new Ford Fiesta or Puma
