Other Audi TT (2006 - 2014) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

    Don't really care.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    Love it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes - I can't see anyone else making anything better suited to me any time soon.

What are you likely to buy next?

The big V6 has been dropped in the last year or two, so by the time I replace this, I might look at a newer 2.0 TFSI TTS.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    October 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

Paid a bit of a premium due to the car having very low mileage, one prev owner from new, FASH, and looking/feeling/driving like new.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I had three main requirements of a convertible: Paddle-shift auto, year round use no matter what the weather, and the ability to take enough luggage for a few days holiday. This car is particularly strong on the first two, and pretty good on the third.

    What was the dealer like?

Very pleased with them - no issues.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

It's a hoot! Incredibly sure-footed, and plenty quick enough. There is a lovely noise from the V6 when you floor it. As a committed driver of automatics, I'm a convert to the improved performance, rapid change, and better fuel economy of the Audi S-Tronic/VW DSG gearboxes too (this is my second car fitted with one). Some "enthusiasts" might turn their noses up at this car, and go for something purer like a Boxster (which I also considered). But that is missing the point that with this car, you have 250bhp of real-world useable power. Also, if you're just pottering around town or on a long run, it's smooth, refined, relaxing, comfortable and easy to drive.

    What's it like to park?

Have rear parking sensors (strongly recommended!) so its fine.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No - but one thing to bear in mind is you do get nailed on higher emissions/road tax and poorer fuel economy on the 3.2 V6, versus the 2.0T FSI so I've knocked a star off.

What's most practical about your car?

With Quattro and heated seats, car gets used all the time, even if the weather is foul. The fabric hood is well insulated and doesn't intrude into the reasonable boot space (like it does on tin-tops like SLK and Z4). There is enough boot space for a few days away.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Quattro, S-Tronic/paddle shift, heated seats, parking sensors, and a very quick folding roof.
