BMW 1-Series Hatchback 118d M Sport 5d Owner Review

After driving 30k miles in the car I must say its brilliant. I was initially put off by the big front chrome grill but after I had it upgraded to the black shadow line grill the overall looks of the car has really grown on me. I am 6’2” and I find the driving position very good and sports seats comfortable. The ride is good and acceptable on 19” alloys. Boot space and rear passenger is ample. My car has the full technology pack and HK audio, all great but wished the digital had was more colourful. The 118d engine is great, has plenty of torque for overtaking and getting to speed. Handling is good and there is plenty grip however the steering feels artificially weighted. My car has the manual gearbox which is ok but can be tricky to judge what gear to be in at lower speeds. Overall very happy, would recommend. Other option I considered was the A3 but the new shape was not out at the time.
