  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

The car has 2 sides to it, the everyday cruiser and practical family car then the wonderful driving experience that it also offers when you want it. Its sensible yet great fun.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it and for the money there's not much more you could buy for such little cash.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Definitely, although the reliability is sketchy the problems are outweighed by the positives. I would consider a newer model and perhaps the M3 saloon.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Either 330i, 335i or M3 E90 saloon.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £3,800

When did you buy the car?

    December 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

It was a fairly good deal from a trustworthy local independent dealership. The car is highly spec'd but still sits around the same price bracket for lesser equipped cars and smaller engines.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Lots of space and was a good example.

    What was the dealer like?

    Very good and reliable.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

This is the best asset of the car, drive beautifully even for a 90k mile plus car. Handles very well although i suspect the bushes/suspension will need attention around 100k miles. The engine is sublime, the 2.5 litre straight six is powerful, quick and sounds very nice indeed. You can feel the 2000kg weight at times however but never feels sluggish.

    What's it like to park?

Very good in fact, having owned a newer 1 series which was not very good to park, the 3 series is excellent as you sit a little higher it seems.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Rear window regulator, radiator, brake caliper, rear boot release.

What's most practical about your car?

The amount of cubby holes and storage is useful, boot is huge however the boot lid opening is fairly small. Comfortable for 4/5 occupants too.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The leather seats are simply beautiful to sit in and hard wearing with the dog in the the back.
