Family love the car and some of my pals are a wee bit jealous - no idea what the neighbours think, they say it's nice, but who knows what they really think.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I would have no problem in buying this car again - but it would be good to upgrade.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £32,000

When did you buy the car?

    November 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

The dealer was incredibly patient as I wished to try three models that were available. Five months previously I had purchased a brand new top spec 3 Series saloon which I was trading in against a low mileage demonstrator. The dealer was sympathetic to the loss I was making on the trade-in and worked hard to ensure a good package for me. So by the time I came to sign on the dotted line I felt well served and fairly treated.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Two main factors were instrumental in the decision to purchase this car. 1. The poor motoring experiences of the winter of 2010. 2. A long standing plan to travel and stay in France for three months in the late spring of 2012.

    What was the dealer like?

The dealer is 30 miles from my home but they were the only one with X3s available that met my requirements and initially dealt with them by phone and internet. They were attentive, listened to my needs. At no time did I feel pressured and they ensured that I understood the process should I wish to purchase. The showroom was mid-size, but had excellent outdoor space to display vehicles, the workshop was immaculate and is visible rom the showroom - I liked that. Most of all the staff were extremely knowledgeable and this gave me a great sense of security.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great all-round vision, an automatic box and an engine with loads of grunt make it a joy to drive. The car is very responsive and transmits road conditions to you through the steering and handling. The car adapts to town, country or motorway driving. My wife enjoys driving it as well, as do the boys.

    What's it like to park?

A dream, with the sensors front and rear giving a full stereophonic sound awareness inside the cabin - parking is made simple.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

I bought the car with 7,000 miles on the clock and it now sits at 25,000+. I have enjoyed every mile in this surefooted vehicle. I am delighted with the mpg, particularly in France on the motorways when the cruise control came into its own. It is a comfortable car with good all round vision, versatile and smooth automatic box. The vehicle is a great load lugger and it carries passengers with ease. My only issue has been the security bolt for removing wheel security wheel nuts - I have had to replace two to date - they break very easily.

What's most practical about your car?

One day it's a people carrier, the next it's a removal van and on others it's a prestigious form of transport.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Built in sat-nav and Bluetooth connectivity - but most of all the cruise control, ease of operation and fuel saving ability make it the must have for me.
