What does this car say about you?

I feel proud to be seen in this lovely motor. I think that people who know about cars understand the A5. It may seem a poncy couple to some, but it is a tool as much as a toy.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Friends admire the style of the car but (maybe) think it's a mid-life toy. The kids find the back a bit of a deep dark hole for a long trip. My woman secretly loves it, finding excuses to take it to work on my day off. To my face though, it's an imimpractical luxury.

Would you buy this car again and why?

At the slightest opportunity. This car seats 4. It uses less fuel than our Focus 1.8 diesel around town and on a run. It has a decent boot, all the kit you could ask for, it is reliable, a delight to the eye. And it goes like the clappers. Why would I buy anything else? OK, there are 5 of us and the dog doesn't fit. But then there's the Focus which anyone else can drive. I can't, I'm busy...

Did you get a good deal and why?

I think I paid a toppy price, but the preparation of the car and high standard of service were worth it.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I had driven a friend's A4 Avant 3.0 Tdi Quattro and liked it a lot, but not the size. The I just fell on love and had to have the A5.

What was the dealer like?

A specialist in used Audi, they were friendly, open, helpful and we're able to meet my requirements for price and availability. I would use them again.

What's it like to drive?

The tiptronic box is smooth and silky when warm in D. A little jerky and slow to change when really (winter) cold. In S, there is no slurring, just the next gear. Absolutely brilliant for those long A road overtakes. As civilised as you could wish for around town, and as fierce as you could hope for when you ask it the question. Absolutely fantastic. In bad weather, the Quattro system offers security and stability that breeds confidence. Seriously the best all - round car I have ever owned or even driven.

What's it like to park?

Quite wide with lots of glossy panels out of sight, but the parking aids mean that even my old lady doesn't find it hard to park.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Not a thing in 50k miles. Except one temperature display digit in the air con...

What's most practical about your car?

The pace and an unreal level of economic for the performance. It has been so reliable, too.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Great B & O sound system. Had it remapped which improved the economy (+10%) and gave it a blistering cross country pace. Thats my real favourite.
