Other Ford Ka (2009 - 2019) models:

  • Summary

What does this car say about you?

It's a first car that wasn't my choice so I can't say much really. Nice enough though.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

My friends make fun of me for the colour choice (sunrise.. wasn't my choice ha ha). Family and neighbours haven't really commented on it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Only if I had the chance to buy a.Metal edition, its amazing looking!

What are you likely to buy next?

I quite like the design of the Fiat 500, it is essentially the same car because Ford used the same platform. The Fiat has a nicer image though I think, so I'll give my Dad back the Ka as we share it and get a 500 if I can afford it haha.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £9,000

When did you buy the car?

    June 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Car was an ex-test drive car. Still quite expensive I thought and didn't really see the benefit.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I didn't buy it. Dad bought it for us to share, wasn't reasonably impressed with his decision to get sunrise red.

    What was the dealer like?

Didn't have to deal with them myself, been told they're okay, nothing special.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

For one, if you slightly go off the accelerator, the car with jolt horribly. The low gears aren't very powerful going uphill so you have to thrash it the odd time trying to get uphill which can make people stare the odd time and use up more petrol. Speaking of petrol, I've come to notice it's not as economical as made out to be. Notice myself keeping an eye on the current MPG/miles left so the fuel line doesn't go down too quickly. On the upside however, it's easy to get about in, steerings nice and responsive about the place, gear change is fairly pleasant (most of the time). It can have good noise levels too, seems to have good days and bad days, so I turn the radio up, which is quite good quality too. 6 speakers.. in a Ka??!

    What's it like to park?

Really good, probably one of the highlights.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes. Been in the garage about five times roughly since we got it. A large clunking noise on the passenger side everytime we turned practically. Ford didn't know what was wrong with it so sent us home. When it persisted, we wanted something done. Left us carless for two days while they tried to figure it out then eventually told us it would have to stay in for two weeks to have parts replaced. They finally gave us a courtesy car but by the time that I got my insurance sorted with the courtesy car the car was finished early (about the only good thing). Since then, the car has had the odd trouble to start and sometimes makes some curious noises. Can see a visit to the garage again in the forseeable future.

What's most practical about your car?

The fact that it's dinky and easy to get about the place, easy to park as well and rather spacious for it's exterior size.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The Edge model doesn't really have any funky accessories, so I'll have to go with the fact that it has air conditioning?
