Other Ford Mondeo (2007 - 2014) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

It says I have 3 kids but don't want to drive something that looks like a van, is based on a van or is a van.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

It doesn't tend to come up in conversation very often, but anyone who does mention the car seems to like it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I certainly would. Ford's reliability and ride quality deserve my repeat custom.

What are you likely to buy next?

Another Ford Mondeo Estate Diesel Auto. I am now a Ford customer.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £13,000

When did you buy the car?

    July 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, the dealer added a proper Ford boot liner, and a rear bumper guard, refurbished the alloys and replaced a section of interior trim that he thought was too scratched but I didn't notice. It was like a new car.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Traded up from an older Mondeo which I loved but mileage was getting too high. Wanted another Ford and this car seemed better all round.

    What was the dealer like?

Excellent. Very helpful with everything. He found the car for me when I told him the exact spec and colour I wanted and my budget. Kept me informed all the way through. Could not have been better.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

The car is very good and, on paper at least, better than my old Mondeo Estate in every regard. I would say it's more like an Audi than a Ford and the quality of the ride is brilliant. The (auto) gearbox is faultless and nothing short of astonishing. Plenty of boost.

    What's it like to park?

Easy enough. Front and rear sensors help. It's a big car but I've never had any trouble parking it.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No faults. My only problem is that I can't seem to find a comfortable position for the seat. I think the foam in the driver's seat is too dense. After a year and nearly 15,000 miles I'm getting used to it, but it's not as comfy as my old 2004 Mondeo.

What's most practical about your car?

The boot is huge. I can't reach the innermost recesses without climbing inside. I have to carry loads of stuff around and this car fits the bill perfectly.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Tough to choose just one, but I like the push button start. I couldn't have a car without heated seats now; essential accessory for me. And I love Ford's heated windscreen - another reason for sticking with the blue oval. The voice recognition feature actually works and is pretty good as well. I love the fuel range - the capacity must be about 65 litres so I get nearly 700 miles from a full tank.
