Hyundai Coupe 2002-

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

  • Economy

    Value

    1 out of 5 1.0

This model is poor value, with a known manufacturers defect to the engine which Hyundai UK deny exists on this model yet the same defect on the 1.6 model has warranted a re-design.

    Costs

    1 out of 5 1.0

Once the piston slap problem occurs fuel costs will greatly increase.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Drives fine terrible mechanics let it down.

    Performance

    1 out of 5 1.0

Could be good except for the engine problem.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    1 out of 5 1.0

Shocking, many return visits to dealers, too many to mention.

    Image

    5 out of 5 5.0

It does look amazingly good to be fair!

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Comfortable to drive, but don't consider rear seat passengers.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

This model has a sufficient alarm.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Hyundai UK are the worst car company I have ever dealt with. This model has a know engine defect, which they deny, yet they re-bored and replaced this engine only to be continually faced with the same ongoing piston slap which was not remedied.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Piston slap, for which Hyundai, re-bored this engine, which failed, then fitted a new short engine, which again failed and left the problem with another like for like replacement & they continued to say it was a noise only problem.

    Other

Hyundai UK admit they have redesigned the 1.6 engine for the piston slap problem they claim does not exist in this model.
