Summary

1 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
It says that I am gullible and didn't heed all of the warnings about the sub-standard Freelander.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
-

Would you buy this car again and why?
Not only would I not buy another Freelander, but I will neer buy another Landrover again. Prior to the Freelander, I have owned two Discoverys. While they were both good cars, Landrover had not teh slightest interest when the gearbox failed on the Freelander despite the best efforts of the dealer who had serviced it according to the service intervals.

What are you likely to buy next?
Toyota Rav4

Have you had any problems with the car?
Where do I start? The front discs and pads needed replacing shortly after purchase followed by calipers and pins. The auto gearbox failed and needed replacing. The VCU and bearings had to be replaced. Turbo hoses failed. Final drive is making a horendous noise despite being replaced 2 years ago. With the VCU and front and rear props attached, there is a severe vibration through the car between 35mph and 45mph. The heater has stopped working and now only blows cold. The ICE controls have come away from the steering wheel. Despite replacing the front brake calipers and pins when I bought the car, the front right has all the indicatiosn of a seized pin again (grating noises). Front fuel pump failed a month ago and has been replaced, but there is now a pronounced fuel leak from somewhere

What's most practical about your car?
Load space and ability to get out of a snow bound village.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
ICE radio controls until they broke off.
