Other Mitsubishi Colt (2004 - 2013) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

I like something different and cool looking. Mitsubishi is a quality marque and Colt is an affordable way to drive one.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Everyone loves it. Lots of double takes, and I can't stop rabbitting on about the 58 - 64mpg I get on my journey to and from work! Credit crunch? What credit crunch! Cheap as chips to run.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Definitely when facelifted / new version arrives as simply wouldn't buy the exact same car twice.

What are you likely to buy next?

Tempted by a Colt CC (Coupe Cabriolet). Got this on credit for a couple of years, certainly would buy a Mitsubishi again. Stick to a local dealer (no big chains) and you'll not regret it is my experience!

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £10,500

When did you buy the car?

    January 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Good deal as £500 off (January 07 offer), got some tailored mats thrown in and free metallic paint. Also got a good deal on part exchange.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Not many of this car on the road, Japanese reliability and local dealer

    What was the dealer like?

Excellent. Really small local dealer with strong focus on customer service; not pushy, test drive was pleasant and as dealer is vaguely in a rural location, got to test it on some "proper" country back roads for speed, handling etc.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Handles superbly. It speeds up really quickly, is responsive, steering is perfect, clutch is light, gears smooth. Brakes are excellent; took some getting used to ABS (never had that before) but only ever kicks in when braking on icy roads in my experience. Solid at speed, so many "as standard" gadgets that make driving easier its truly a pleasure to drive.(ie indicators flash three times for lane change, speed aware intermittent wipers, front fogs, semi automatic climate control, a/c, heated mirrors, leather seats, it's endless!). Oh, and the "A pillar blind spots" thing is a myth unless you're a midget; plenty of window to look right when pulling from junctions and roundabouts!

    What's it like to park?

Easy peasy lemon squeezy if you like to reverse park; door mirrors are huge so it's so easy to line up between parking bay lines, parallel park etc. Driving forward into a space though isn't so easy and often needs a couple of attempts as the bonet is pretty much invisible so takes some blind faith! :) You get the hang of it though.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Sun visor wouldn't stay where you put it when down; changed under warranty and now works fine. Nothing else!

What's most practical about your car?

Choice of boot space by moving back seat forward / backward depending on need. Rear seats split fold and can completely roll forward, making for lots of rear space and what I can only describe as a Colt van! Indispensible when moving house!

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Had to haggle for this from Mitsubishi after a fudge up with what was in the brochure and what was delivered, but got the MP3 CD playing version of the Colt head unit (standard on CZC models, but not others) so can play hundreds of songs on a single CD with track titles scrolling across my dashboard! Sweet! :D
