What does this car say about you?

That I'm likely to be a middle aged man...when actually I'm a 20-something female. I don't know why the Qashqai has this image but it really seems to (not that I care). Personally I think it's a fun yet practical car with lots of good gadgets!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They are impressed with all the gadgets and find it comfortable.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, although I would go for the even more economical 1.6 diesel that Nissan have now released. It's a great car for my needs, has a lot of equipment for the money and has been very reliable so far (touch wood). It's a shame the tyres are so expensive though.

What are you likely to buy next?

Perhaps another crossover, maybe a Hyundai ix35 for the great warranty or a Skoda Yeti for fuel economy. I would also consider super-economical diesel estate cars as they tend to be cheaper than the crossovers and just as practical.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £13,500

When did you buy the car?

    July 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

Dealer knocked £500 off the asking price which I thought was reasonable. Car was much cheaper than others I'd seen for same engine, spec and mileage.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Fuel economy, cheap tax, driving position, boot space for dogs, heated leather seats, good resale value.

    What was the dealer like?

    Very good.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

It won't knock your socks off but the 1.5 diesel is more than capable. 6th gear is brilliant on motorways and really helps fuel economy. Handling feels just like a normal hatchback; not too 'wallowy' around corners.

    What's it like to park?

I find the front 'corners' difficult to see/judge and rear visibility isn't amazing. Rear parking sensors (I haven't fitted reversing camera with my Connect unit) really help and steering is light and responsive. All in all I find it pretty easy to park.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Rear shocks replaced under warranty (known fault). Anti roll bar link replaced under warranty.

What's most practical about your car?

How infrequently you need to fill up! Boot size is good, driving position gives a great view, plenty of space inside, parking sensors are handy.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Heated seats, auto-dimming rear view mirror, iKey system, Connect unit (fitted myself as it didn't exist when my car was built) especially bluetooth audio streaming, after-market Travall fitted dog guard.
