Value
Ok, but disappointed with lack of electric heated mirrors and very few i-drive features.
Costs
Ok, not bad considering it has cruise control.

Handles ok at speed on corners, but once you loose it, its like a brick on ice.

Quick when revved, but efficiency is no-where near official figures.

I don't think its all it could be but quite a lot of other 'old' Astra drivers had their nose out of joint!
Comfort
Seats good, but lack of armrest was annoying, very noisy from wheel arches and underside (whooshing and hum).

Engine
I think Vauxhall must be using a diesel direct injection trickery as used on new VW, I hate it makes the petrol sound like diesel, AND performance/efficiency was not as good as manufactures figures - I go about 30mpg combined.
Other
Hate the I-DRIVE style menus and indicators - they are too computer-ish.
