Other Vauxhall Vectra (2005 - 2008) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

No comment - it's a boring practical choice. Occasionally mistaken for unmarked Police car which is a little strange.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Practical big car. Makes you look like a sales rep (which I'm not).

Would you buy this car again and why?

Probably not. Although it gives trouble free motoring, is very economical and I have no real complaints the car has no character at all. Would prefer something perhaps a little less common?

What are you likely to buy next?

For motorway miles I'll not change it. Saving for a Nissan 350z which is no comparison.

  • Buying experience

    3 out of 5 3.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £8,995

When did you buy the car?

    April 2009

Did you get a good deal and why?

Reasonable deal from a car Supermarket.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Replacement for an aging Saab 9-5 2.3t that guzzled too much gas and oil.

    What was the dealer like?

Awful - Arnold Clark in Leyland. Although Sales were reasonable in getting a deal, as soon as paper was signed it went downhill. Car was not taxed as agreed. No fuel in tank (agreed a full tank on delivery). Alloys scuffed and not repaired. Interior dirty on delivery. Shocking after sales care.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Ride is comfortable and the car is great on motorways. Mine's given me 30k trouble free miles in the last 12months. Automatic box can be a little frustrating as it's very slow to select 1st and give you any power - makes getting into small gaps at junctions tough. Tip-tronic box gear up-changes painfully slow too.

    What's it like to park?

For a big car it's really easy to park. Would have preferred to get parking sensors if I'd bought new.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

A few items fixed under warranty, but nothing major - steering wheel controls, ash-tray fixing, rear seat cushion fixings.

What's most practical about your car?

Economy. Despite being an automatic and a large car I can get 55mpg on a long run, of 48 pottering round town.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Nothing really - does what it says on the tin in a largely average way.
