    5 out of 5 5.0

For the price of a warm-hatch you get air-con, heated leather seats, electric roof, alloys, exclusivity, Japanese reliability, a fantastic drive and a great engine. Great value when you think about it!

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Needs an oil-change every 3000 miles and you have to get it done at Daihatsu for the warranty, but its not too expensive. The unique tyres are £45 each. Fuel consumption is okay, I average 35mpg and I don't hang about! Also insurance group 9 isn't bad.

The seats are very supportive and comfortable, which is just as well because this car can be thrown round corners! The twin exhausts sound brilliant,

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

It definitely sounds and feels faster than it is, but it's still as quick or quicker than the competition despite only having a 0.6 litre engine. The turbo means you get great mid-range acceleration, and it pulls strongly from 2500rpm onwards.

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

It's Japanese, panel fit is excellent, Daihatsu have made crazy turbocharged tiny engines before so there's no reason it should go wrong - nothing has done yet.

Not for the introverted or shy, this car will get you noticed. It's a bit effeminate, but that doesn't bother me, especially as you can see most vehicles off from the lights and nearly all cars off round a corner.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

The ride is almost Morgan firm, so it will put some people off. The seats are excellent though, and the car has plenty of creature comforts for the price.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    5 out of 5 5.0

Tin top makes me feel much happier about leaving the car parked anywhere dodgy - just try and slash a metal roof! For extra security I went for the optional alarm too - shame it's not standard.

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not serviced it yet but it took them over three weeks to fit and alarm to an in-stock car and deliver it to the dealership.
