Fiat Tipo Hatch 1988
  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Paid around £700, and is a fair car for the money, certainly smooth and quieter than most cars.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Other than the work I have done, and fueling it, it is affordable to run!

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

It's fine for everyday commuting, or general driving, but wouldn't want to push it to its limits. Can't be bothered anyway!

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

The nippy little 1.6 is fine for normal driving, but thats about it. Also, it is nice and quiet, unlike most other cars.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

Due to only covering around 1500 miles I can't comment, though it does start first time everytime, even in the coldest of weather.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

Being the SX model, with the colour coded body work and fog lights, it looks quite smart. You can't escape the fact its still a Tipo.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not bad, but where it lacks in comfort, it definatley makes up for in terms of space - it really is very spacious!

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

No doubt you could get into it easily even with a security system, but who would want to waste their time?

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Did all the servicing/work myself, parts are very cheap, and can be purchased anywhere. If you are mechanically minded or have a haynes, go for it, your learning how everything works, or how easily parts break!

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

None, keep it serviced will keep it running. Valve stem seals/Piston rings are on their way out.

    Other

Electrics are often a pain, especially the digital dash. Check everything works.

    Ownership

Did you buy the car new?

    Used

Would you buy the same model again?

    No

Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?

    No
