Fiat X1/9 (1986 - 1989) 1500 Sports 2d Owner Review

Totally underrated, proper drivers cars. Yes the aren't especially quick but the handling is superb and the engine is a gem and can be easily tuned to make the car much much quicker. I've owned a 2.8i Capri, Saab 900 T16S and a Scimitar GTE in the past and even in standard form, the X1/9 is a much more enjoyable and involved driving experience.
They are very easy to work on, parts are cheap and plentiful and fuel economy in standard trim is very good (need to be run on super unleaded now due to higher ethanol content of E5 fuel.
Rust is an issue but most of the bad ones have rotted away by now and I've had more rust issues with ten year old Vauxhalls and Fords than I have with this Bertone x1/9.
Values are only going one way now so get one while they are still affordable and every drive will be enjoyable.
Can't beat them for smiles per mile.
