In their own words

I have owned both generations of the ford ecosport (released in uk) , the 2016 plate was built in India and the fit and finish was no where near as great as the Romanian built 2017 onwards plate. I now own a St 140 2019. Although as mentioned the fit and finish of this ecosport is lovely and it should be as it’s based on the current fiesta, you’ll find you have slightly more leg and head room in the ecosport it will happily accommodate four 6 footer adults and the boot although not massive will swallow a couple of weekend bags. The problems I found is that with the St line the suspension is a little too firm it’s great when on a twisty road as there’s very little body roll/ lean but when pottering around town or on a slightly rougher tarmac you’ll notice it jiggling around alot like it’s got ants in it pants. The little 1.0 ecoboost engine has to be worked hard you’ll notice having to change gear quite a lot. Once upto speed on the motorway I find it’s lovely not too much wind or tyre noise even on the upgraded 18” alloys. The biggest disappointment for me is that when pottering around the town in start stop traffic I will average 28 - 30 mpg. If taken on a run of 20 miles with mixed driving the car will average 35-38 mpg and on a longer motorway run it will average 40-42mpg this is all with an economical mind set when driving. I will say though that I have spoken to many 20/21 plate owners and they have had a significant jump in mpg most of them averaging 40 around town and mid 50s on longer runs but unfortunately I’ve never seen such mpg with my ecosport. What I will say is if you need a high riding car for easy accessibility with a reasonable level of comfort (more comfortable in titanium trim but St line comes with better body kit) & you’re happy averaging low to mid 30’s mpg I would suggest the ecosport.
