  • Summary

What does this car say about you?

Sod all really... maybe just that I'm boring, practical, have more money then sense (which I don't by the way) & that maybe in a couple of years time the Govt. will be trying to take these of the roads as well as the 4x4's

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

My family love it, they all have the small 1.1 & 1.3 cars, with boot spaces so small you couldn't swing a cat in, and no one but me has a towbar, so they all love it... yes, even the neighbours...

Would you buy this car again and why?

Of course!!!... If you're reading all this, you'd know why I'd buy it again... it's just brill!!!.. I may go for a smaller engine though... but I'm considering getting this one converted to duel fuel...

What are you likely to buy next?

Depends when I need to change my car... will be a Ford again, hopefully the Mk6 Escort, but depends if there are any around by then!!!...

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    November 2006

Did you get a good deal and why?

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I love Ford Escorts... I've driven everything between motorbikes & Reliant's, as well as most makes of cars & small lorrys, but I still enjoy driving & owning Escorts. Over the past 10yrs, I've owned the Mk3, 4 & now the Mk5... and even when the Mk2 came out when I was at school, that was the car I said I would own one day... I just ended up with the next version up...

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Beautiful... loves motorways, starts purfect everytime... never over-runs, but has the extra there when you need it... it can be juicy on fuel, but if it's driven with care & you keep to the speed limits (or there abouts), you still get there, just a few minutes later & you save money coz the injectors don't dump so much fuel in.

    What's it like to park?

Humm... needs better vision, bigger mirrors & to shoot idiots who feel the need to walk behind you whilst your reversing with a trailer... You need a bigger bay, but the power steering make up for the downsides.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

No... It's an "S" reg, 1998, its got 49500 on the clock, but has got it's original & FULL service history. The worst that's happened is the rear demister fuse has been replaced... twice!!!...

What's most practical about your car?

It's a family car with room for the extras I carry around, which means I don't have to drop the rear seats like I had to with my old Mk4. It's got basic good extras, but it's not over the top with them. I would like the ABS, but we can't have everything.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

I like the roof rails, I purchased a set of bars, new from B&Q for £20... saved £££'s on both car shop & Ford parts. I adore my towbar... couldn't live without it!!!...
