Bought an 94/L with 58k for £1200, bought a CD player, and sold it for £1700 a few months later, excellent!

Low gearing, so averages mid 30's mpg, but cheap parts.

OK, big fat steering wheel, smooth engine.
Performance
90bhp for a small 1.6 car means fairly quick, handles nicely.

Very comfortable sports seats which you sit in, as opposed to on!
