Other Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I like a bit of sportiness but I'm not out to be fully "boy racer". That job is left to the faster ST model.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    Not much reaction really.

Would you buy this car again and why?

A good all-rounder but probably not as I'd like something that's a bit more refined at motorway speeds in the future. Trust Ford delivered a faultless service so I'd certainly recommend them.

What are you likely to buy next?

I'd certainly buy Ford again but possibly go for the newer Fiesta which garners better reviews from the pundits. Possibly a 1.6TDCi model for it's refinement and torque.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £5,000

When did you buy the car?

    December 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

I bought this vehicle from Trust Ford and got free delivery (from the north to the south) and a full service worth £400 thrown in as well as an MoT. I felt it was an average deal given what I'd paid.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

It was the model I'd identified as a good compromise between performance and economy.

    What was the dealer like?

    Thoroughly professional throughout. No complaints.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Fun! Excellent handling with lowered suspension and sporty alloys on low-profile tyres (195 width). Only thing is avoid high kerbs like the plague or you'll scuff the hell out of your wheels! Fast but revvy and it could do with a 6th gear as it's doing about 3600 RPM at the legal limit so not a natural motorway cruiser but great on country roads and in town of course. Gear shift is good, though reverse can be a bit fussy.

    What's it like to park?

Easy to park, though you need to open your door and look behind you with really tight spaces as the back window is rather high, as with most modern cars.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Only a few minor issues such as a holed tyre, a loose engine hose and a rattle from the back of the vehicle. There was a loose exhaust heat shield which I had removed.

What's most practical about your car?

Split-folding rear seats, though not the biggest boot.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Remote boot release on dashboard - great idea. Stereo sound quality is excellent and on-board computer easy to use and functional.
