In their own words

Not as good as old Mk1... We bought the car in August 2016 and have since done 7000 miles in it. With the exception of it being a bit more roomy inside and feeling a bit more solid, the Mk1 Focus we had previously was a better car. The Mk1 drove better, was just as fast and handled far better. The current one is fine as a runabout, but it handles like a barge, is slow and only does 31mpg, where as the Mk1 with the 1.6 engine would easily do 40mpg plus and had a much better chassis. The Gearing on the mk2 with the 1.8 engine is shorter as well and you always feel like you need another gear on the motorway. I would also liek to add that whoever decided to call it the "Sport" must have had a good sense of humour as the car couldn't be less sporty if it tried. That on top of the bland styling gives it a thumbs down from me.
