  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Like a little power in something not too garish and chavvy. The orange was a near miss and glad I went with the grey.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Love how quickly it can chase down vastly more expensive cars. They always have fun as a passenger or if I let them have the keys.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Although the engine seized it was down to a faulty oil pump and I would get another for the engine alone. A Mountune would be a must though.

What are you likely to buy next?

More miles for work so a diesel is a must. Something with a lot of torque to at least make it entertaining if I have to give up that great engine sound.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £17,995

When did you buy the car?

    July 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

They gave me a good trade in price for my old car.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Had a Focus 2.0 litre a few years before and had great fun driving that. Figured a 2.5 litre turbo would be none stop fun.

    What was the dealer like?

SMC Rover but I won't hold that against them.

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

Had Ford add the 260 Mountune and that alone kept my interest in the car for another couple of years. Awesome torque and from such little revs. The standard car doesn't come close to the feel and sound it now makes.

    What's it like to park?

Turning circle is shocking but parking sensors and large wing mirrors help a lot.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Engine seized at about 30,000 miles. Fault appeared to be a dodgy oil pump as the car was full of oil when checked at the roadside. Typically it was 6 months outside warranty and Ford only offered 50% towards the parts. Would have cost me over £4k for a new engine including Fords offer. Got a refurb for £2,300. Buckled a couple of wheels. Bonnet lock broke and had to be replaced. A lot of cabin rattles and seat squeeks.

What's most practical about your car?

Seats four in plenty of room.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Leather Recaros are extremely comfortable. Helps reduce the stiff suspension through the bones.
