Ford Granada Hatchback
  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

For a car of this age it has been of reasonable value.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Parts are cheap enough when required.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Not the sort of car you can throw around a tight bend, but extremely comfortable on a long journey.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Being an automatic, not first out of the starting blocks, but on a motorway the kick-down is good.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

Again, age must be against it. Head gasket failed last year and now have a few minor gearbox problems, ie vacuum switch and kick-down solenoid.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

I think they have good looking lines to them. This is my second Granada. I know they have an old man's image, but to be frank "I don't give a damn".

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Extremely comfortable. More than enough leg room in the back of the car.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

Factory fitted alarm, say no more. Fuel filler cap is a joke, as I have found out to my cost more than once.

    Service

    2 out of 5 2.0

Never use manufacturers on second hand cars. Find yourself a good mechanic.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Head gasket failed, but after 125,000 miles, does use a bit of oil though.

    Other

One rear window has detached itself from electric motor, which is apparently cheap or easy to fix.

    Ownership

Did you buy the car new?

    Used

    Yes

Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?
