Other Ford Mondeo (2007 - 2014) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Too sensible to be tempted to pay looney bucks for big brands.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Don't know and don't care, to be honest. I buy cars to fulfil my own requirements. Those few that do comment tend to say it's a nice colour.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes but probably the estate which has a better shaped boot space for dog crates. It's a supremely practical business and family car (though the new 4WD version would be better for those wanting to tow boat trailers up slipways and caravans out of muddy fields).

What are you likely to buy next?

Not sure. I did like the practicality of my previous Honda CRV, though it proved to be mechanically unreliable and relatively expensive to tax. The next Mondeo estate would be somewhere near the top of the list for sure.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £15,000

When did you buy the car?

    November 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

Main dealer so not a great deal, despite trying hard to get one. Cornish main dealers tend to act like monopoly suppliers (which they effectively are unless you're prepared to drive for hours to find alternative suppliers). Got a reasonable trade in value for my previous vehicle.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Had a Mondeo a few years previously. Wanted a big car for motorway cruising and occasionally towing a caravan.

    What was the dealer like?

Not keen to discount. Very keen to sell finance and overpriced Gap insurance (refused).

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Excellent handling, smooth, quiet. Brilliant for long distance motorway driving.

    What's it like to park?

Front and rear parking sensors are very helpful, making parking quite straightforward (you need a big space though).

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Hasn't put a foot wrong in the 10,000 miles I've driven it.

What's most practical about your car?

It's big, comfortable, quiet, economical and powerful and heavy enough to tow a family caravan within safe limits.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Bluetooth hands free mobile phone connectivity.
