Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

In 2010 we needed a full 7 seater for my wife’s child minding business but it also had to be able to tow our caravan an definitely not be a van or vannesque! We tried the Galaxy , Sharan, Espace and Citroen’s offering. My wife loved the drive, space, visibility of the Smax (especially as she is only 5 foot tall. For the majority of our 11 year ownership it has rarely let us down. It does get through front tyres regardless of how you drive, battery’s only last 3 or 4 years at best, I don’t buy cheap batteries but even then they usually just clear their warranty period and then die. The only thing that we added to the car were rear parking sensors and the tow bar. Both have been very useful. I would fully recommend purchasing one of these as long as the services have been kept up to date.

How reliable do you find the car?

This car has been fantastic in every way, shortly after purchase we found the passengers side front electric window would do its own thing, only go so far up and then not want to go up or down and then go 3/4 of the way up before going all the way back down. With tentative switch control it would go up in stages until closed, it was more of an inconvenience than problem though! The only other problems encountered are front tyres do not last very long, despite driving sedately. The fuel rail return line started leaking around 100k miles, the clutch failed shortly thereafter but all in all nothing that you wouldn’t expect for a car of its age and mileage. The drivers side middle row seat buckle lock became an issue but a good vacuuming out and wd40 sorted that.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

A superb drive with fantastic power for towing a caravan. As a family car it has brilliant comfort levels for all and eats up motorway miles effortlessly, the boot space is cavernous with all seats down reducing to massive with the middle row up and even with the rear seats up you can fit a Phil and teds 2 seater pushchair and all my wife’s childminders equipment. The middle row are independently adjustable and take 3 adults or 3 car seats with ease. The 3rd row are more than suitable for car seats but once you get past teenagers years are more for shorter journeys.
