Honda Civic CRX Convertible

In their own words

I absolutely love my CRX - it's the best car I've owned. (I'm also restoring an import del sol with a higher spec). It's a pretty sports car with a fair sized boot, even with the lid in it - plenty of room for luggage. Comfortable - if you don't mind sports suspension. Great fun to drive. Hard top in winter, convertible in summer. Nothing fancy, it's from the best era of cars - the nineties. Fantastic Honda engineering under the bonnet, but not too much fancy stuff in the cabin. Most of the suspension is standard civic parts. Three minor design dislikes; glove box doesn't lock, unlocking and opening the boot is a two handed job and don't accidentally lock the keys in the boot when a long way from your spare set! That's a locksmith job. Later models sometimes had a bonnet pull in the cab. The UK models have a problem with rear wheel arches rusting - I've had mine restored - needs doing at the first signs of a problem.

How reliable do you find the car?

If serviced properly and looked after, this car is relatively trouble free. The age obviously affects things like bushes etc. I've replaced a radiator (£80) and a distributor and also had a new centre section exhaust - custom made in stainless. Parts are occasionally tricky, but of course there's plenty of info online. A fantastic reliable engine.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

This is my second CRX and this is the smaller engine. With a single overhead cam it's not like my other which has a B16a engine, so not as pokey but still great fun to drive.
