Honda HR-V (2015 - 2020) 1.6 i-DTEC EX 5d Owner Review

1.6 i-DTEC EX 5d

In their own words

After owning a Mazda 3 previously I am very disappointed with the Honda. Overpriced and underachieving. Looks quite nice though with the top spec trim. Engine performance is what can be expected from a 1.6l diesel. That is slow unless revved hard but then the economy really drops. Also noisy. Sunroof gives good airy feel to the cabin but if opened is too noisy above 45mph to be left open. Quality of some running gear is poor, gear change is positive, electronics are annoying with too many unnecessary driver ‘aids’. Touch screen needs a good thump. Stereo system has good sound quality. Plenty of general space but lacking in legroom for 6ft + driver. Seats are narrow and uncomfortable. Rear seat and load space options are really clever to maximise carrying capacity. No spare wheel though. Overall not a good buy.

How reliable do you find the car?

Battery replaced as would not hold charge and when running car just stopped. Brake discs need replaced at only 40k miles. Not good enough.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Slow and thirsty, electronics are really annoying and not intuitive. Seats narrow but plenty of space overall. Harsh ride.
