• Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

    Individuality. Don't see many about.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Hated some of the unneccessary expense it provided but mates loved the acceleration!

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, but probably a better maintained version. I prefer this to the later model in looks and with a few added extras, well maintained, will go on forever. Understated brilliance and the dash is just awesome!

What are you likely to buy next?

Lexus IS200. Have a family and the Prelude doesn't quite fit my needs.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £2,200

When did you buy the car?

    March 2006

Did you get a good deal and why?

Possibly paid a little over the odds.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted something quick but understated. Loved driving other vtec engines and loved the styling of the 'lude.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Fantastic to drive. Very quick. Pulls in all gears at all speeds. Corners well but can feel a little odd due to the 4ws. Not much will get away from it from 30-130.

    What's it like to park?

Very easy to park once you get used to the 4ws.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Numerous problems throughout ownership, mostly things that go wrong on older cars but none of it cheap to fix. No engine trouble however, mostly mechanical problems due to age and rust. Definitely need to watch out for rusty brakes, calipers and break pipes when buying. Check the handbrake too. Sunroof still a bit loose and rusting around the seals. Car needs regular looking after to keep it in good condition. Having done 130k miles it still sounds and moves brilliantly though.

What's most practical about your car?

Cruise control. Floor it, then sit back and enjoy the ride. Good mpg both round town and especially on the motorway provided it's under 80. Not really a family car.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Cruise control. No speeding tickets!! Reasonable stereo (tape only) but tape to mp3 via headphone jack works well.
