In their own words

Don't buy a Niro unless you live in a forest or hate your neighbours.
The car is nice enough to drive, though hardly thrilling. It has good visibility and a fair amount of kit for the price.
The cruise/lane assist combo is very clever and particularly useful on long motorway journeys.
My wife loves the automatic gearbox.
The boot is a bit small, especially if you opt for a spare tyre.
The Sat Nav maps are always out if date, even when just recently updated, and the touchscreen is a bit fiddly.
However, in higher grades you can send destinations to the Sat Nav from your phone, which is really handy.
It makes too many unwanted bongs and alarms when starting up/closing down,
All these things I could live with EXCEPT...
When reversing, the Niro makes a very loud, high-pitched alert sound outside the car. It is apparently a 'safety feature' for pedestrians. it is audible inside the house with the windows closed and over 100 ft away down the street.
If you have to reverse into a parking space late at night or early in the morning, your neighbours will, quite rightly, grow to hate you.
There is no way to turn these alerts off or down. They are on all models, not just the EV.
Other EVs do not have such loud or high-pitched alerts.
If I had realised that they were audible outside the car, when I did the test drive, I would have walked away.
There is no sign that Kia have any interest in changing this.
