In their own words

We live in rural Cumbria and we need a tough car with 4 x 4 capability. The Freelander carries out its role perfectly. Big enough for when our grandchildren visit. Compact enough for rural roads and small town parking. Command driving position for good visibilty in narrow hedged lanes. Excellent in snow courtesy of Terrain Control.. Heated front screen and seats for cold weather. Ours comes with Xenon HID headlights which are superb but beware of the standard halogen versions - they are poor, We only do infrequent long motorway trips but the Freelander is a refined smooth long distance cruiser with good air conditioning, sat nav and excellent sound system plus telephone connectivity. Steering and handling are a little woolly which is expected for a tallish SUV but nothing to be concerned about in a vehicle which encourages a relaxed driving style. Auto box is seamless. The Freelander is quite a complex vehicle which needs regular servicing to keep it performing reliably. Design is now ageing in comparison to Discovery Sport which replaced it on paper, but if you are not worried about having a style icon it is the more practical vehicle. All in all very happy!
