In their own words

Very disappointed. Suspension compressor failed 12 months ago then this year the Crankshaft SNAPPED. New engine fitted at £10750 repair cost from a reputable Land Rover specialist. Vehicle immaculately maintained and driven. Land Rover not interested in compensating me as they feel that it is acceptable for a 5 year old vehicle with 70 000 miles to suffer catastrophic engine failure at the owners expense. Garage owners tell me this is very common and my Land Rover repair outfit are supplying 4-5 new engines per month. Go to a main dealer and this will cost £20-30000 and Land Rover know this is a problem but just put their head in the sand. This is unacceptable support from a manufacturer who build and sell this range of vehicles with sub-standard components at inflated prices. Shame as this is a wonderful vehicle to drive, but I will never spend another penny with Land Rover and would not recommend anyone owning one out of warranty. One of my friends has just had a new engine fitted after 30 000 miles as a warranty claim after his crankshaft snapped and blew the engine up. Be warned. They are recalling these vehicles in China for this engine bearing/crankshaft problem
