In their own words

Very pleased with the car, drives nicely, very practical, like how it looks too (unlike the newer model Mazda 3s which are rather jelly mould). Not massively fast but then it is tuned for economy. I don’t actually know what the mpg is, I’ve never checked. Lots of room in the back with the seats down which has proved very useful. Very easy to live with, with features such as keyless entry and start. Don’t use the sat nav or ‘head up’ display much but I guess they would appeal to some people. High level of standard spec as usual with Japanese manufacturers and, also as per my experience of brands such as Mazda and Honda, reliable

How reliable do you find the car?

• Brake discs and pads needed replacing at the second annual service – however the car was kept in a very salty environment at the time. • Safety recall on the windscreen wiper control unit – hadn’t had any problem with it though. • Garage said the driver’s door lock wasn’t working properly and wanted to replace it under warranty, however again I hadn’t experienced any problems with it.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Ended up with a top-of-the-range model which I hadn’t originally planned to buy, but was offered a good deal by the garage. A lot of the toys which I originally wasn’t fussed for turned out to be quite good features – reversing camera, keyless entry/start.
