What does this car say about you?

More confidence. He must have nerves of steel driving an 8 year old Merc, I've owned s/h Mercs before and as long as one checks them weekly and acts on the information , they are not expensive to own . Another make may be younger and cheaper but it doesn't have the same class and prestige.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Very impressed / Green with envy. It's the car they really wanted but couldn't afford. (It probably cost a lot less than their newer cars).

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes I certainly would. It feels very solid and substantial. It has a quality , confident feel and this makes driving a pleasure.

What are you likely to buy next?

Good question. This was a very low mileage example -21,000. Yes that's right. The service books/ MOTs all seem to tie in . I will probably keep this and buy another German make . Possibly a diesel ,BMW 3 series.

Did you get a good deal and why?

Not really sure. I only got bottom book on my trade-in and I got nothing off the price of the Merc. It really was love at first sight, which tends to blunt one's emotions as far as dosh is concerned.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I loved it at first sight.

What was the dealer like?

Ok. To be fair , he gave me the keys and said take it away for a test drive .That was nice. Only one key and despite asking repeatedly still no sign of it .I'll need to send the boys round.

What's it like to drive?

Wonderful.It's only the 180 k but that's all I want. It does things gently and assuredly. One feels cosseted and appreciated . One feels that one hasn't been totally unsuccessful in one's life. (I know it's only second hand Merc, but I was previously driving a Corsa. (which was fine).

What's it like to park?

It's bigger than a Corsa, so one has fewer choices than before. The front/ rear park assist does help I wouldn't have bought it if it hadn't had this option.(It's really for my wife, I'm a very good driver).

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yep! Slow puncture on third day. Had to buy new alloy and tyre as tried to get alloy(coated inside) and tyre(checked and ok) repaired and still flat. I told the dealer after I had fixed it. "If only you had come to me sir ,I would have fixed it. Aye right! as they say in Glasgow. He certainly wouldn't have bought a new alloy. He wouldn't have had any arms and legs left.

What's most practical about your car?

Boot is great .The car is very comfortable and peaceful .Every trip is an occasion. Jaguar cars used to be described as "Grace with pace", well ,I think this equally applies to my car.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Leather seats, colour, air con, auto and front/ rear park assist. The car just exudes quality. (I now have an intimate knowledge of how the jack works).It actually works ok.
