Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

The 350CDI engine combined with the Airmatic system is key. It's a big old brute which requires a good power plant and suspension to help is out round the bends. Yes, the airmatic is prone to failure after a period of time, however it is worth is for the ride quality.

I use two sets of wheels. The AMG 21" alloys if I am doing a larger road trip. And then a set of 18" ML alloys with General Grabbers for when I go and play in the dirt.

The rare but great Off road pro package give you a steel under guard (just as important for those going out in the ice as it is going off road), extra option to raise the suspension to redonkulous heights (rivals LR defender), Locking mid and rear diffs, Low range transfer box and the hugely valuable adaptable shocks. These aren't a gimmick and stops the car rolling like the QE2 in corners.

The seats are comfortable with enough support for long journeys. The command system is beginning to be rather dated but still functions well and from time to time I still use the Nav on it. The Harmon Kardon sound system is superb. I appreciate a good quality system and this excels.

Servicing through a main dealer would be ideal but realistically, you're not gaining anything less when going to a specialist instead apart from saving a few quid.

When bought, I did have to "contribute" towards the dreaded oil cooler seal (common fault), however this engine is derived from the Sprinter Van engines which are good for a half million miles.

I would recommend to all, however get the oil cooler seal done, and instead of a warranty, just save a small amount every month in preparation for this air suspension components. The air springs are rubber and perish (they're not that bad on mine for some reason) but they are worth it for the ride quality. For the price you can pick them up for, they are premium car at a great price. And the fact you can show up a lot of 4x4's out there in your posh roader, it's just a great car.

How reliable do you find the car?

Compressor for the Airmatic failed. Didn't drop so left me time to repair.
Command system/Harmon Kardon is playing up a little.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Does long journeys on complete comfort and as I take it green laning, it exceeds where most would not go. With the full off road pro package, it has huge capability.
