Had two of the diesel model SLKs before and loved them. Only problem was the van like sound on start up. Always hankered after the AMG version (172) and decided to take the plunge. The engine puts this car in a different league. It's a special occasion every time you turn the key. The biggest down side is trying to resist the temptation to floor the car - the sound and drama of the whole thing is unbelievably addictive. There's no doubt the car has flaws. It doesn't possess the fine handling of a Porsche or BMW (so those with more experience tell me). It also flexes and thumps over bumps. But when it comes to smiles per mile there's little to beat it.
